In A Related Story, Justin Timberlake Is Adorable

John Krasinski is in It's Complicated. Diane Kruger is in Inglourious Basterds. Witness their professional excitement over the nominations for those films.

P.S. Justin, stop reading People and make a new album. XOXO

    FILM

    BEST PICTURE - DRAMA

    Avatar
    The Hurt Locker
    Inglourious Basterds
    Precious
    Up in the Air

[Nick has a theory that everyone has an investment in Avatar because it costs so much money to make that if it doesn't do well, it will signal the death of the movie industry. Tom Arnold was talking about it last night on Conan even though he's not in it. I'm freaked out by this and I think it looks so stupid. I really don't want to have to see it.]

    Michael Stuhlbarg, A Serious Man

[What an awesome group of actors! I was totally pleased with this until I read that Dave Karger predicted that Bradley Cooper would get nominated. It wasn't the showiest role (although the film was a huge hit) so I'll get over it.]

    Entourage (HBO)
    Glee (FOX)

    Steve Carell, The Office
    David Duchovny, Californication

    Matthew Morrison, Glee

[I am SHOCKED Morrison got this. Good for him, bad for Jim Parsons and Zachary Levi. All the others are fabulous. I always root for the underrated Duchovny. I think people think he’s just playing himself but he’s truly wonderful on that show and he seems to get better every season.]

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

Toni Collette, United States of Tara
    Courteney Cox, Cougar Town
    Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie

Entertainment Weekly did a First Look of the new Todd Phillips/RDJ/Zach Galifianakis/Michelle Monaghan movie, Due Date. Initially I was psyched about this movie, but when I saw the picture (which features Downey wearing a tie and talking on a Blackberry) I remembered that RDJ's middle aged good looks handicap him when it comes to comedies and leave him saddled with playing the straight man to young upstarts (Anton Yelchin) and less attractive character actors (Galifianakis). So that made me a little bit sad. But then I read the caption in which ZG says, "I got lost biking to Robert's house and showed up late and sweaty. Then I made a derogatory comment about an actress he once lived with."

So now of course I love Zach Galifianakis. Because what was the worst mistake Robert Downey Jr. ever made? It wasn't getting addicted to heroin or getting fired from Ally McBeal or getting arrested and breaking his parole. It wasn't that interview he did while waving around a loaded gun. Not even that time he broke into somebody's house and slept in a little kid's bed.

No, the worst mistake Robert Downey Jr. ever made was seriously dating Sarah Jessica Parker. It's the worst mistake anyone could ever make, really.

P.S. I just read that in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, Holmes and Watson share a bed and wrestle. Cannot wait for this movie.

P.P.S. I just found this old Oscar roundtable with RDJ, Frank Langella, Brad Pitt, Anne Hathaway and Mickey Rourke. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I swear it's enough to make me hate actors. What a fucking circle jerk.

How Carrie Underwood Won American Idol

Seeing as how Simon Cowell's prediction that Carrie would sell more albums than any previous Idol winner recently came true, I thought it was my duty to post this funny video from her holiday special this week. Bonus appearances by Seacrest, Bo Bice, and a Constantine voodoo doll (if that's your thing).

Carrie is also the most decorated Idol winner, with seven Grammy nominations and four wins. And if you were not shocked that David Cook didn't get nominated this year, read this: "All of the American Idol winners except Taylor Hicks & David Cook earned Grammy nominations during the year they were first eligible." Seriously, ouch.
